Window Seat for Venues

The best light on earth, on every screen in the room.

Ambient screens for hotels, lobbies, cafes, restaurants, waiting rooms and offices, and for the displays on ships and aircraft. The screen follows the sunset around the planet on its own, all day, every day, with your name in the corner.

$99 per screen a month · 217 live views in 45 countries · no hardware

Connecting
A real screen, running now. It rotates every thirty seconds here; a venue chooses its own pace.

Who it is for

Any room with a screen and nothing good on it.

  • Hotels and lobbies

A window in a room that has none, changing with the light all day and all night.

  • Cafes and restaurants

Something worth glancing up at, silent, never an advert, never the news.

  • Waiting rooms

Calm on the wall. Bears in a river, a reef, the sun going down somewhere.

  • Offices

The planet turning on the meeting room screen between calls.

  • In-flight and cruise displays

The computed-only playlist runs on a thin connection: the globe and the sky are drawn on the screen itself.

  • Spas, gyms and studios

Slow, wide views on a long rotation, with quiet hours when you close.

How it works

A screen is a web address.

  1. 01

    Start a screen

Choose how many screens, pay by card, and name each one in your console: Lobby, Bar, Room 2. Each gets its own private link.

  2. 02

Open the link on the TV

Any smart TV browser, a Fire TV, a Chromecast with Google TV, a $30 streaming stick, or an Apple TV mirroring a Mac or iPad. No hardware from us, and nothing to install.

  3. 03

    Leave it

It rotates on its own, swaps out any stream that dies, reloads itself overnight, and checks in every five minutes so your console shows which screens are live.

What a screen does

Five playlists, one console.

Follow the light
The best live skies on earth, ranked minute by minute by how close each place is to sunset or sunrise and how good the cloud is for colour.
Computed only
No cameras at all. The globe with the live terminator, the live sky computed over any city, The Ten board and the night sky board.
Night
Aurora cameras, observatories and the night sky board: moon phase, the K index, the meteor shower that is running.
Wild animals
Bears, waterholes, reefs and aquariums. Outdoor cameras only while there is light to see by.
Your own list
Pick the cameras and the order. Up to forty.
The sky over us
Set a home location and the screen paints the sky above your building right now, computed from the sun and the live cloud.
Your brand
Your logo or venue name in the corner you choose. A clock and the local weather if you want them.
Quiet hours
Closed overnight? The screen streams nothing and shows a dim, drifting clock until you open.
Across a room
Type set to the screen, not the pixel. Legible at 1080p and at 4K from the back of the room.

  • Cancel from the console. No contract, no setup fee.

What you pay for, and what you do not

The cameras belong to the people who run them, and most of them play through the YouTube player, whose terms do not allow anyone to charge for access to the content inside it. So we never charge for a camera.

A venue subscription pays for what is ours: the curation engine that decides what is worth showing, the always-on schedule that follows the light around the planet, the computed sky and globe art, your branded screen, and fleet management and uptime.

Camera views on a screen are the operators' own free public embeds, with the operator credited on screen for as long as their view is showing. And a venue can run a computed-only playlist with no cameras at all: the globe with the live terminator, the live sky computed over any city, The Ten board and the night sky board.

Questions

Asked before you ask.

What are we paying for, exactly?

Everything that is ours: the curation that decides what is worth showing, the schedule that follows the light around the planet without anybody touching it, the computed sky and globe art, your branded screen, the console that runs every screen you have, and the uptime. The camera views themselves are free public embeds from their operators. We never charge for a camera.

Can we run it with no cameras on it at all?

Yes. Computed only shows the globe with the live terminator, the sky computed over your city, The Ten board and the night sky board. Every pixel of it is drawn by Window Seat.

Do we need any hardware from you?

No. A screen is a web address. Open it in the browser on the TV or on any streaming stick and make it full screen.

What happens when a camera goes dark?

The screen drops it and moves to the next view, usually within seconds. Streams that end report themselves, and one that never loads is given thirty seconds.

Is there sound?

Never. Every view plays muted.

How much internet does a screen need?

A camera playlist streams video, like any streaming service at HD. Computed only loads once and then needs a few kilobytes every few minutes, which is why it suits ships and aircraft.

Can we add screens later, or take some away?

Yes, from your console at any time. Stripe prorates the difference on the next invoice.

What does a screen show if the subscription ends?

It rests: the computed sky, and one line saying the screen is paused and how to switch it back on. Never an error page. Start again and every screen returns with its link and settings.

How do we cancel?

From billing in your console, in two clicks. Screens keep running to the end of the period you paid for.
